FWE 520 Ornithology – Ornithology is the scientific study of birds. This course covers the evolution, biogeography, functional morphology & physiology, ecology, brain & behavior, migration, demographics & life history strategies of birds, as well as ecology and major conservation challenges. Students will gain skill in engaging with primary scientific literature through the lens of ornithology.
FWE 521 Birds of Southern Wisconsin – Outdoor and indoor labs/lectures emphasizing identification of southern Wisconsin birds by sight and vocalization. Two required Saturday field trips in Southern Wisconsin.
FWE 658 Forest Resources Practicum – Field training and experience in measurement/assessment of forest ecosystem properties/traits/attributes.
